1. About the Position
The Primate Research Institute invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in CICASP, a center established in 2009. Kyoto University is one of the top universities in Japan. 2. Job Description
Applicants must have an outstanding research record in any domain within or field related to primatology and wildlife research, as well as a commitment to teaching excellence. Only applicants fluent in both Japanese and English will be considered. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to CICASP and KUPRI in the following ways:
  ・ Maintaining an active research program involving international collaboration
  ・ Developing and conducting a weekly workshop for students in science communication, jointly with CICASP faculty (e.g. scientific oral / poster presentations, scientific debate, and critical thinking)
  ・ Training and mentoring graduate students in any domain of primatology and wildlife research
  ・ Coordinating the international entrance examination, jointly with other faculty members
  ・ Developing a strategy to recruit international students
  ・ Supporting international students and researchers
  ・ Participating in faculty meetings and other committees for institute-wide administration

3. Application procedure
Candidates are requested to submit the following documents:
1) CV (in Japanese or English)
2) Detailed account of academic activity and research grant record (in Japanese or English)
3) List of academic publications and reprints of five representative papers of your research (in Japanese or English)
4) List of non-academic/popular publications (in Japanese or English)
5) Description of research that the candidate has conducted (in Japanese, about 3,000 characters)
6) Description of research that the candidate intends to carry out at KUPRI (in Japanese, about 3,000 characters)
7) Ideas about how the candidate can contribute to the promotion, development, and management of CICASP and KUPRI (in Japanese, about 1,500 characters)
8) Summary of #5-7 above (in English, about 1,000 words)

4. Selection procedures and feedback to candidates
A committee will be set up at Kyoto University to evaluate all candidates, based on the documents submitted. There might be an interview by faculty members. The final decision will be made by all faculty members. Each candidate will be informed of the final decision pertaining to him/herself only.
