The investigation of White-headed langur using DNA
Date:2011/03/11 - 2011/03/18
White-headed langur is classified into critically endangered (CR) according to IUCN Red List and protected by Professor Pan Wenshi at Peking University.
To conserve this species, it is necessary to understand their habitat including their feeding strategy.
This time, we collected some feces for DNA analysis of White-headed langur and plants they eat in the Chongzuo Biodiversity Research Institute throughout 4 days.
As a result, we obtained 29 feces of white-headed langur including an infant and 41 plant samples.
We can address the problem mentioned above by these samples.
Besides the field research at Chongzuo, we participated in the biological seminar at Peking and Shanghai.
At Peking University, we are introduced the conservation activity of Center for Nature and Society, Peking University such as conservation of snow leopard.
At Chinese Academy of Science-German Max Planck Society-Partner Institute in Shanghai, we discussed on the transcriptome analysis of human, chimpanzee and macaque brain.
Both of these researches are very interesting for me and become leading marks for my research by knowing what is proceeding in China and worldwide.
