Observation of wild orangutans in Borneo with undergraduate students

Report: Kagawa Kokoro

Date: 2011/11/22 - 2011/11/29

¡¡During the whole travel schedule, we stayed in the Borneo Rainforest Lodge located in the Danum Valley Conservation Area, Sabah, Malaysia, from 23 to 28 November to observe the wild orangutans and other animals. During those days, we encountered orangutans every day. Total number of individuals was estimatedas 10. We were able to see the difference in action of the indivisuals produced by their age and sex. We observed the feeding, nest building, locomotion using branches, and social interactions. We also did trekking in therainforest to observe its biodiversity.
