Graduate student, Jie Gao, received the 2018 Kyoto University President's Award.

Category: Scholarship

Citation:
Ms. Jie Gao studied whether chimpanzee can understand the circular relationship like Rock-Paper-Scissors Game, compared with human children, and got the idea that there might be some differences in the perception of "body" between humans and chimpanzees. She is currently going on unique studies of "perception of the upside-down body". These studies were highly evaluated in Japan as well as internationally, and she has won a total of nine awards, including the award of Journal "Primates" 2018 Social Impact Award.
